An Autism Service Dog Can Help...

They Can Assist With
Many Safety Issues

Many individuals on the spectrum have no concept of safety or danger. From bolting towards the street, to stranger danger, to climbing on objects. These action can take just seconds to occur, but could have life long consequences.
A service dog can be trained to block from going into the street; resist bolting while tethered; bringing back the individual if they wonder away; and alerting you as a parent to something potentially dangerous such as climbing on a counter or opening the oven.

Interrupt or Reduce Meltdowns

Two challenges that many clients with ASD face every day are are a lack of communication skills along with not able to deal with change in their life. Both of these challenges can easily lead to frustrations  that build up and explode into uncontrollable meltdowns.
That's where a Service Dog can be trained to step in the early stages and interrupt the individual before the meltdown progresses out of control .

Reduce Stimming or
Self-Injurious Behaviors

Stimming behavior is a major behavioral problem that can easily lead to a health problem as well. It  can be considered anything from hand flapping, pattern walking, repeated verbalizations, or to more dangerous self-injurious behavior such as picking one's skin until they bleed or head banging.

A service dog can help provide a behavior interrupt to temporary stop the behavior and then do additional actions to redirect these types of behaviors into a safe & more socially appropriate action.

Find the time tested tools, techniques, and guided exercises to help overcome the challenges of Autism.

They Can
Help Build Communication Skills

Autism service dogs play a vital role in enhancing both verbal and non-verbal communication skills for individuals on the spectrum.

Guided interactions and exercises help individuals with Autism understand the power of words, enabling them to command and work with their service dogs to gain control over their environment.

Help Sleep
Better At Night

By providing comfort and a consistent presence, these service dogs contribute to a more relaxed bedtime routine, helping individuals on the spectrum achieve better sleep in the familiarity of their own beds.

This helps the individual be more rested, experience less severe meltdowns, & greater compliance when adapting to change.

Help Teach Assisted
Daily Living Tasks

Service dogs specialized in autism support are crucial in helping individuals on the spectrum with Assisted Daily Living Tasks (ADLs).

These devoted companions not only enhance their partners' independence in daily activities but also play a significant role in fostering social skills and building connections.

This is largely due to the comforting and reliable presence of a trusted service dog.
